It was many and many a year ago,
아주 오래된 옛날
In a kingdom by the sea,
바닷가 어느 왕국에,
That a maiden there lived whom you may know
By the name of Annabel Lee; -
혹시 여러분도 아실 지 모를 애너벨리라는 이름의 한 소녀가 살았답니다.
And this maiden she lived with no other thought
Than to love and be loved by me
그리고 이 소녀는 나를 사랑하고
내게 사랑 받는 것 외에는 아무 것도 모르는 소녀였답니다.

I was a child and she was a child,
그녀도, 나도 어린아이였지요,
In this kingdom by the sea,
이 바닷가 왕국에서,
But we loved with a love that was more than love
그렇지만 우리는 사랑 이상의 사랑으로 서로를 사랑했답니다.
I and my Annabel Lee -
나와, 나의 애너벨리는..
With a love that the winged seraphs in Heaven
Coveted her and me
하늘의 날개 달린 천사들까지도 시샘하는 사랑을 했었답니다.

And this was the reason that, long ago,
그리고 분명 그 때문이랍니다, 아주 먼 옛날,
In this kingdom by the sea,
이 바닷가 왕국에서,
A wind blew out of a cloud, chilling
My beautiful Annabel Lee ;
한 조각 구름이 바람을 몰고 와,
나의 아름다운 애너벨리를 싸늘한 죽음으로 몰아냈지요.
So that her high-born kinsmen came
그리하여 그녀의 고귀한 친척들이 찾아와
And bore her away from me,
그녀를 내게서 빼앗아 갔답니다,
To shut her up in a sepulcher
In this kingdom by the sea
이 바닷가 왕국의 한 무덤 속에 그녀를 가두기 위해서..

The angels, not half so happy in Heaven,
하늘에서조차 우리의 절반만큼의 행복도 가지지 못한 천사들이,
Went envying her and me; -
그녀와 나를 질투하게 되었지요.
Yes! - that was the reason (as all men know, In this kingdom by the sea)
그렇답니다, 분명 이 때문이었답니다(바닷가 이 왕국에선 누구나 알듯이)
That the wind came out of the cloud by night,
밤새 구름이 몰고온 바람이,
Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee
나의 애너벨리를 싸늘하게 얼려 죽인 이유는..

But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than me -
Of many far wiser than we -
그렇지만 우리의 사랑은
우리보다 나이 많은 사람들의 사랑보다도,
우리보다 훨씬 현명한 사람들의 사랑보다도, 훨씬 강한 것이었죠.
And neither the angels in Heaven above,
Nor the demons down under the sea,
저 하늘 위 천사들도, 저 바다밑의 악마들도,
Can over dissever my soul from the soul
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee: -
나와 나의 아름다운 애너벨리의 영혼까지 갈라놓을 수는 없었답니다.

For the Moon never beams without bringing me dreams
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
달빛은 내게 항상 아름다운 애너벨리의 꿈을 가져다 주고
And the stars never rise but I feel the bright eyes
Of the beautiful Annabel Lee;
